Illinois Eye-Bank raises $100,000 at Gift of Sight Gala

The Illinois Eye-Bank forged “A New Chapter” for its 16th annual Gift of Sight Gala at the Peninsula Hotel Chicago on June 19.

More than 200 guests came to honor author Sherrill Bodine of Glencoe with the “Woman of Vision” tribute, and corneal surgeon Dr. Charles Bouchard of Glen Ellyn with the “Gift of Sight” distinction.

Part of the Midwest Eye-Bank, the Illinois Eye-Bank annually aids some 2000 individuals locally, 4000 worldwide. In keeping with its mission to preserve and restore sight through research, education, transplantation and partnership, the non-profit organization sends corneal tissue to countries such as Egypt, Africa, Costa Rica and others that do not currently have programs developed to restore sight. The event raised $100,000.
