Doings area students earn campus honors

Jestin Kolar, a criminal justice major from Burr Ridge, graduated in the spring commencement ceremony held at University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

Students at the University of Kansas earned honor roll distinction for the spring 2014 semester. Honor roll criteria vary among the university’s academic units. Some schools honor the top 10 percent of students enrolled, some establish a minimum grade-point average and others raise the minimum GPA for each year students are in school. Students must complete a minimum number of credit hours to be considered for the honor roll.

Ryuta Oku of Hinsdale, was named to the dean’s list of Emory College of Arts and Sciences, the undergraduate, liberal arts college of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, for the 2014 spring semester.

Declan McGuire of Hinsdale has been named to the 2014 spring semester dean’s list at Lafayette College for outstanding academic achievement.

Alexandra Less of Hinsdale, has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2014 semester at Salve Regina University, Newport, Rhode Island. Less is a senior.

Kristin Denlinger of Western Springs, received a bachelor of arts degree from Emory College of Arts and Sciences of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Lauren M. Bruckhauser of Burr Ridge has been placed on the dean’s honor list in recognition of her outstanding academic performance during the spring 2014 semester at the University of Notre Dame. Her first year grade point average places her in the top thirty percent of her class.

Nicholas Rush of Hinsdale graduated summa cum laude from the Wharton school at the University of Pennsylvania. Nicholas earned the Norman J Goldring Award given to the senior with the highest GPA of all male varsity athletes graduating from the University of Pennsylvania. Rush played Sprint football for four years, earning his varsity letter and being named Honorable Mention all-conference his junior and senior seasons. Rush was the valedictorian of the 2010 class at Nazareth Academy.

James Considine, of Hinsdale, received a bachelor of science degree from Fairfield University’s Dolan School of Business at its commencement exercises.

Jennifer Bush of Hinsdale has been named to the dean’s list at Bucknell University for the spring semester of the 2013-14 academic year.

VanderWoude graduated with a major in English with a concentration in literature, and a minor in philosophy. She studied abroad with the Arcadia College of Global Studies College of Global Studies Program in Greece.

Margaret Ann Buddig of Hinsdale was among graduates awarded diplomas at Denison University’s commencement. Buddig graduated with a major in biology and a minor in educational studies. She was a dean’s list student.

Alexander Pusinelli, a resident of Burr Ridge received a bachelor of arts in economics during the Southern Methodist University commencement ceremony, in Dallas, Texas.
