Baseball: Nazareth subs scrap for extra-inning win over Glenbrook North

NAPERVILLE — A couple of short-handed teams wound up playing a long game Monday afternoon at the Phil Lawler Summer Classic.

With both clubs missing players because of football commitments, Nazareth slipped past Glenbrook North 4-3 in eight innings in pool play at North Central College in Naperville.

That earned the Roadrunners (22-11) a date with St. Laurence (15-2) — a 12-4 winner over Prospect — at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Benedictine University in Lisle. The winner advances to Wednesday’s semifinals of the unofficial summer state tourney, while the loser meets Prospect immediately afterward for a second shot at the Final Four.
