Month-long Party for Pillars raises $42,000 for Pillars

When Pillars throws a party, it really throws a party. The group’s month-long summer fundraising initiative came to a close on June 26 after hosting an assortment of parties and activities.

More than 500 guests came out to support the series of events, which were held throughout La Grange and neighboring suburbs.

Organizers strove for a variety of activities, from an award-winning float in the La Grange Pet Parade to Polynesian dancing at a Hawaiian Holiday Party, to the family-oriented School’s Out! Fun Fair.

The month kicked off with a Friends of Pillars event at FitzGerald’s in Berwyn hosted by two Pillars employees for longtime supporters of the mental health and social services agency. Other favorites included AmeriKama – American Fare, Indian Flair, which featured craft beer sampling paired with progressive Indian fusion cuisine; Summer Solstice Soiree, hosted by Eileen and Nick Newlin of Hinsdale, where guests were clad in white to celebrate summer and Pillars; Vino for a Cause at Hillgrove Wine Cellars in Western Springs where guests sampled wines and nibbles from Sugar Mom Treats; and a Friday Night Wine Tasting in the garden of Corliss and Dennis Kajmowicz of La Grange.

The month closed with a Wine and Opera party in Oak Park featuring a tasting of South African wines and the operatic sounds of Nora Engonopoulos.

Party for Pillars raised more than $42,000 to help support the life-changing mental health and social services that Pillars provides to people in need.
