‘Cold Blooded Creatures’ wows children at Five Seasons

A renowned reptile expert brought along some of his companions to Five Seasons Family Sports Club in Burr Ridge on July 15, wowing 80 youngsters as well adults who were on hand.

With “Cold Blooded Creatures,” Jim Nesci shared insight and inspiration to summer campers, tennis players and other children at the club, 6901 S. Madison. Among other facets of the performance, children had an opportunity to meet and have their photograph taken with Bubba, an 8-foot alligator.

The experience also included a discussion from Nesci on the relationship between reptiles and dinosaurs, humorous stories about his adventures with reptiles, how to properly handle the animals, and an emphasis on respect and safety for both animals and participants in the show.

The focus was Nesci’s message of conservation and protection of reptiles, as he underscored the importance of reptiles in the natural world.
