1. La Grange Endless Summerfest, 4 p.m. Friday
A spectacular fireworks show, sponsored by Country Financial, will be featured at dusk on Friday and Sunday. A petting zoo and special activities for children are showcased from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Live entertainment throughout the weekend includes Big Wheel, Hair Bangers Ball, Saracens, Kickin’ Jimmy, 16 Candles, Mason Rivers and Andrew Salgado. Delicious fare from La Grange restaurants and food vendors are available. Also featured throughout the weekend is a local business expo which showcases the amenities and services offered by many businesses in the area For more information, visit www.lagrangeendlesssummerfest.com. Gordon Park, N. La Grange Road and E. Ogden Ave., La Grange. $3 admission charge to the food and entertainment area from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Children 12 and under are free.

2. It’s a Painting Party, 2 p.m. Saturday
Join the studio every Saturday for a BYOB painting party. Participants can paint a piece by a local artist while enjoying a beverage. Cost includes all painting supplies and a 16-by-20 take-home canvas. Must be 18 or older to attend. Registration required. Bottle & Bottega, 1 W. Harris Ave., La Grange. $35.

3. Canyon Tour, 1 p.m. Sunday
Learn about Sagawau Canyon, the only exposed bedrock in Cook County, and wade through the stream that carves into the 400 million-year-old rock. Sagawau Environmental Learning Center, 12545 W. 111th St., Lemont. Free.

4. Cardboard Boat Regatta, 9 a.m. Saturday
The Clarendon Hills Park District’s first Cardboard Boat Regatta has participants pull together teams of up to five people and build a boat using only cardboard and duct tape for materials. Two-man crews then race the boats in the lap pool at Lions Park. Prizes are awarded for fastest vessel, most creative craft, and “The Titanic.” A continental breakfast is served to all boaters. Register at the Clarendon Hills Park District Community Center, located 315 E. Chicago Ave. Lions Park Pool, 100 Byrd Court, Clarendon Hills. $20 per boat.

5. Family Farm Fest, 10 a.m. Saturday
The eighth installment of Family Farm Fest features live animals, a farmers market, games for kids, face painting, crafts, a quilt raffle, cake walk and refreshments. Proceeds benefit Heifer International. Church of the Holy Nativity, 275 S. Richmond Ave., Clarendon Hills. Free.

6. Concerts on the Green: Reckless, 7:30 p.m. Friday
Watch this variety cover band as it jams out crowd favorites for you and the family. Burr Ridge Village Center, 701 Burr Ridge Parkway, Burr Ridge. Free.

7. Friday Night Focus: MASALA BHANGRA Balle! Balle! 6:30 p.m. Friday
Masala Bhangra is an Indian dance fitness class with Bhangra and Bollywood inspired movements. No dance experience is required. Focus Yoga Studio, 9047 Monroe Ave., Brookfield. $16 or one class-card punch.

8. Pizza on the Plaza, 6 p.m. Saturday
Enjoy pizza with friends on the first Saturday of each month. Christ Church of Oak Brook, 501 Oak Brook Road, Oak Brook. $5 suggested donation.
