The following release comes from Nazareth Academy. Read the release:

Nazareth Academy takes great pride in educating the whole person, including student-athletes. Our teams come together in ways beyond practice and games – to grow as individuals in service to others. Earlier in July, Nazareth’s Varsity Football players joined together with Letters Project to brighten the lives of children who are struggling with developmental disabilities and/or terminal illnesses.

“Our goal was to tie together scholarship, service, spirit and unity into our leadership program this summer,” says Coach Tim Racki. “This project tied in perfectly with service. The boys did a tremendous job of embracing this opportunity.”

After hearing about the mission of Letters Project from Natalie Bell, Class of 2010, Nazareth’s student-athletes set about writing their own letters. “The team wrote beautifully written and encouraging letters to our children, and their eagerness to be involved made me proud to be a Naz alum,” said Bell. The football program also donated t-shirts as small gifts to accompany each letter.

Letters Project was founded by a Naz alumna, Samantha Busch, Class of 2008. Both parties hope that this Summer Sports Leadership session was only the beginning of a lasting relationship. If you’d like to learn more of Letters Project, please visit http://www.lettersproject.org/.
