Burr Ridge crime: 2 $800 bicycles stolen from garage on Village Center Drive

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the area police departments.

Burr Ridge

BURGLARY

  • Two lockers were burglarized at Public Storage, at 16W341 S. Frontage Road. The crime was reported Aug. 2. The locks were missing from both lockers and someone had rummaged through the contents. One customer said several items were missing from his locker.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICE

  • A resident reported Aug. 2 she received a call from a man who claimed she had hit his car and left a note on it. The woman said she had not been in an accident. An officer called the number from the woman’s call ID, but was told the number no longer was in service. The officer advised the woman the call probably was a scam.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

  • A person reported another vehicle struck their BMW on the driver-side rear bumper while it was parked at Lifetime Fitness, at 601 Burr Ridge Parkway, between 10:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. July 31. The police reviewed a recording from a security camera and saw a red van struck the BMW as it pulled into the spot next to it, and then the van moved to a different part of the parking lot.

THEFT

  • A resident of 850 Village Center Drive reported someone stole two gray and black Trek bicycles from the southeast corner of his garage sometime between December 2013 and Aug. 3. The bicycles had an estimated value of $800 each.
