The article on Hinsdale High School District 86 teacher’s compensation was very interesting. The teachers have a wonderful perk in the 6 percent annual raises they can receive in each of the four years prior to their retirement. I would assume that the 24 percent compensation increase will also have a substantial positive effect on the pensions they will receive after retirement. While that may be quite a perk for the teachers, it would be quite a hit to the taxpayers.
With gimmicks like this, it’s no wonder we have financial problems with public pensions.
