1. Elmhurst Family Kite Festival, 11 a.m. Sunday
Head to the park to fly a kite or check out some of the Midwest’s best professional kite flyers. The event includes stunt, trick and show kite demonstrations, a family-fun fly, candy drop and free kite building for children. Attendees are encouraged to bring a kite to fly during open fly times. Berens Park, 493 N. Oaklawn Ave., Elmhurst.

2. ZooBrew, 5 p.m. Saturday
The zoo hosts the third annual ZooBrew for everyone 21 and older to enjoy beer and zoo animals. The beer tasting event features more than 60 beers, live music and more. Ticket costs include parking, admission to the zoo all day, 3-ounce beer samples and a commemorative tasting glass. The brewing begins at 5 p.m. Aug. 9 and 10. Brookfield Zoo, 8400 31st St., Brookfield. $45.

3. Family Camp Out, 6 p.m. Friday
Enjoy a family cookout, games and other activities. The camp-out continues through Aug. 9. Hawthorne Hill Woods, 22W221 71st St., Woodridge.

4. Paddling: Salt Creek History Tour, 9 a.m. Saturday
Learn about the history of Fullersburg Woods and Salt Creek while on a ranger-led paddling tour. For ages 14 and older; under 18 must be with an adult. Participants can bring their own canoe or kayak, or rent one for $20 per person. Fullersburg Woods Nature Education Center, 3609 Spring Road, Oak Brook. $10 per person.

5. It’s a Painting Party, 2 p.m. Saturday
Join the studio every Saturday for a BYOB painting party. Participants can paint a piece by a local artist while enjoying a beverage. Cost includes all painting supplies and a 16-by-20 take-home canvas. Must be 18 or older to attend. Registration required. Bottle & Bottega, 1 W. Harris Ave., La Grange. $35.

6. Classic Car Day at Oak Brook Polo, 1 p.m. Sunday

8. Concerts on the Green: The Andrew Salgado Band, 7:30 p.m. Friday
Rock out with this country band on the Village Green with the family. Burr Ridge Village Center, 701 Burr Ridge Parkway, Burr Ridge. Free.

9. Caribbean Beach Bash, 5 p.m. Saturday
Wear a Hawaiian shirt to this island-themed pool party. The event includes limbo, beach balls, a DJ and more. Hinsdale Community Pool, 500 W. Hinsdale Ave., Hinsdale.

10. Cardboard Boat Regatta, 8:15 a.m. Saturday
The Clarendon Hills Park District’s first Cardboard Boat Regatta has participants pull together teams of up to five people and build a boat using only cardboard and duct tape for materials. Two-man crews then race the boats in the lap pool at Lions Park. Prizes are awarded for fastest vessel, most creative craft, and “The Titanic.” A continental breakfast is served to all boaters. Register at the Clarendon Hills Park District Community Center, located 315 E. Chicago Ave. Lions Park Pool, 100 Byrd Court, Clarendon Hills. $20 per boat.

11. Habitat Restoration Workday, 10 a.m. Saturday
Participants help to restore the surrounding oak woodland by identifying and removing invasive plant species. Gloves, tools and refreshments are provided. Little Red Schoolhouse Nature Center, 9800 Willow Springs Road, Willow Springs. Free.

12. Bard in the Park: ‘A Flight of Shakespeare,’ 2 p.m. Sunday
The Progressive Village Performance Network’s Bard in the Park Series gives audience members the opportunity to sample an assortment of Shakespeare’s writing. Performances include “Macbeth,” “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” “King Lear,” “Romeo and Juliet” and others. Attendees may bring snacks and beverages to enjoy. Prospect Park, 299 W.
