Hinsdale Hospital and the Hinsdale Hospital Foundation Junior Board will host its 60th Annual Ice Cream Social from 1-4 p.m. on Aug. 24 in Burlington Park in downtown Hinsdale.

Admission is free; ice cream, pizza, beverages will be available for a fee. There will also be live entertainment and games.

“We take pride in hosting an event that provides our community with family entertainment while educating them on important health issues,” said Susan King, executive director of the Hinsdale Hospital Foundation.

Returning family fun includes a cake walk, jump and bounce, and a Ty Teddy Bear clinic sponsored by Adventist Hinsdale Hospital’s Koplin Emergency & Trauma Center. The first 500 children will take home a Ty Beanie Baby with any pretend bumps or bruises cured.

The ice cream social will also host healthy living demonstrations at hospital booths throughout the park. The Fire and Police departments will be on hand with equipment, fire trucks, child fingerprinting opportunities and fatal vision goggles to demonstrate the dangers of impaired drivers. There will also be several children’s games and prizes. Some of the activities will be offered at a fee.

“We see the annual ice cream social as another opportunity to share our vision with our community as we step into this exciting growth phase,” said Michael J. Goebel, chief executive officer of Hinsdale Hospital.
