Five Seasons Family Sports Club in Burr Ridge is hosting an Indoor Mini-Triathlon on Aug. 23 for three distinct adult age groups and open to the public.

Customarily, the endurance event incorporates swimming, biking and running over a combined span of 15-plus miles (sprint distance) to 140.6 miles (ultra distance, including a 26.2-mile marathon).

But the Indoor Mini-Tri at the club, 6901 S. Madison, comes with a scaled-down version that caters to people with a wide range of fitness levels. It begins with a three miles of running on a treadmill, transitions to 10 miles of bicycling (on a stationary spin bike, set at gear level 6) and concludes with a 1,000-meter swim.

“Goal-setting is an integral part of anyone’s fitness regimen and as a club we like to create an ongoing environment of supporting our members in their pursuit of personal goals,” said Five Seasons Fitness Director Erik Knowles. “For most people, a full-fledged triathlon isn’t something they are prepared to undertake, so this Indoor Mini-Tri is a great fit to give them something to aim for and to achieve.”

When registering before Aug. 8, the entry fee is $29; thereafter, it is $49 and there is no registration after Aug. 15. On the day of the event, check-in begins at 8 a.m.

Participants will be separated in the following age ranges: 18 to 29 years old, 30 to 49 years old, and 50-plus. The top finishers in each age group will receive first-place prizes.
