2. Sunday Morning Mimosa Party, 10 a.m. Sunday
Enjoy mimosas while painting a piece by a local artist. Ticket price includes paint supplies, instruction, aprons and a 16-by-20 canvas. Must be 18 or older to attend and 21 or older to drink. 3. Canyon Tour, 1 p.m. Saturday
Learn about Sagawau Canyon, the only exposed bedrock in Cook County, and wade through the stream that carves into the 400 million-year-old rock. Sagawau Environmental Learning Center, 12545 W. 111th St., Lemont.

4. Drew’s Family Fest, 11 a.m. Saturday
The family festival includes games, crafts, face painting, beer, wine, food from local vendors, a bounce house, paddle boats, live music and more. Proceeds benefit finding a cure for eosinophilic disease. 5. Children’s Theatre of Western Springs Fun Fest, 10 a.m. Saturday
Snow cones, a jump castle and a dunk tank are part of The Children’s Theatre of Western Springs’ first Fun Fest. The day kicks off at 10 a.m. with a brief informational meeting and a chance to meet the faculty. 6. Concerts on the Green: Billy Joel, Elton John Tribute, 7:30 p.m. Friday

7. Kratt Brothers, 11 a.m. Saturday
The Kratt Brothers Chris and Martin teach children about the strange yet fascinating behaviors of wildlife. This event takes place at West Mall. Brookfield Zoo, 8400 31st St., Brookfield.

8. Back to School Bash: Movie In the Park, 7:30 p.m. Friday
The feature film is Disney’s “Frozen.” Movie-themed activities begin 7:30 p.m. The character Elsa is on-hand. Domino’s Pizza sells concessions at the Prospect Park Pavilion. Moviegoers may bring blankets and lawn chairs. In the event of rain, the film is shown inside the community center. Clarendon Hills Park District Community Center, 315 W. 9. ParkPalooza, 5 p.m. Saturday

10. Bard in the Park: ‘A Fight of Shakespeare,’ 7 p.m. Friday
The Progressive Village Performance Network’s Bard in the Park Series gives audience members the opportunity to sample an assortment of Shakespeare’s writing. Performances include “Macbeth,” “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” “King Lear,” “Romeo and Juliet” and others. Attendees may bring snacks and beverages for the show. Westmont Public Library, 428 N. 11. Family Day at Oak Brook Polo, 1 p.m. Sunday
