Ice cream social only part of fun at Hinsdale Hospital event

Adventist Hinsdale Hospital had ice cream weather for its annual end-of-the-summer ice cream social Sunday: warm, sunny and muggy.

The hospital runs the event, with the help of volunteers from its Junior Auxiliary Board, in Burlington Park.

Along with enjoying dishes of ice cream and frozen yogurt, children jumped and slid in inflatable play areas and practiced their swing at a golf game. Carnival games included tossing ping pong balls into glass bowls to win goldfish, always a popular pet.

Parents could squeeze into a miniature train with their children for a ride down Chicago Avenue.

A disc jockey kept everyone entertained, with hula hoops and free balloons adding to the fun.
