A Darien woman has been charged with dealing heroin in the western suburbs.

Melinda Rozell, 43, faces three felony counts of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, according to a statement from the DuPage County sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s Tactical Narcotics Team launched an investigation in May after receiving a tip about heroin distribution in the Downers Grove and Darien area, which ultimately ended with Rozell’s arrest, according to the statement.

“This arrest further proves that heroin is not just an inner-city problem, and that heroin dealers can come from any community,” Sheriff John Zaruba said in the statement. “My office will remain diligent in stopping the influx of heroin distribution within DuPage County.”

Rozell is being held at the DuPage County jail on a $200,000 bond.
