American Youth Symphony Orchestra offers training

American Youth Symphony Orchestra began its inaugural year of training and performance on Aug. 16.

This is an opportunity for these students to expand and extend their musical training and experience.

American Youth Symphony Orchestra seeks to empower young artists with musical knowledge and imagination, nurturing a love of music and a dedication to the highest standards of performance. By providing professional leadership and inspiration to talented young musicians, the program will enable them to expand their training through performances of the highest standards.

Jennifer Nush will conduct and lead the orchestra. She has a bachelors in music education and masters of music in violin performance and orchestral conducting. She went on to become the orchestra director for two years at Lincoln-Way North and East High Schools as well as the orchestra director for the Lincoln-Way Youth Strings. She has been conducting her own youth string orchestra, GFC Strings, in the southwest suburbs for six years

All rehearsals and concerts will take place at American Music Institute’s Clarendon Hills Campus, 60 55th St. in Clarendon Hills. Musicians can register at www.aysomusic.org and can contact AYSO at AMI@amimusic.org or at 630-850-8505.
