This edition of Library Look brings us the La Grange Public Library’s Linda Montelo, Business Manager

Q. How long have you been with the library?

A. It will be nine years on September 19.

Q. What is your favorite part of your job at the library?

A. As the Business Manager, I love the diversification of the position. I wear many hats.

Q. What is something library users may not know about you?

A. I come from a somewhat large family and I was not born or raised in La Grange. I came to our community about 13 years ago from the city.

Q. What do you think is an underused feature/service of the library, or what is your favorite feature/service?

A. As the business manager I don’t really get to see how the library is truly used. I have noticed though since we have added e-readers, and other devices to our collection, for use, I do see libraries in general evaluating the collections in a different way. We (the librarians) are now thinking like a retailer; we need to be competitive and offer to the community what they really want or need. We are here for the community.

Q. What is your favorite book and why?

A. I don’t really have a favorite book. My favorite type of books are cooking, needle arts, general art and architecture.

Q. What author or character would you like to meet? Why?

A. I had always wanted to meet with Julia Child; through public television that could have been possible. There’s nothing like exploring in the kitchen with a bunch of your friends creating great food with lots of love and laughter. I had spent many afternoons with Julia in my home and felt like she was a part of my family.

Q. What are your hobbies?

A. My hobbies are cooking, needle arts, exploring the local art (fine art) scene.
