Two people have been arrested and charged with robbery in two separate incidents in which young teenagers were targeted as victims.
La Grange police arrested Bruce A. Morris, 18, of La Grange, and a 16-year-old La Grange boy. Both faces two counts of robbery and the 16-year-old also is charged with battery.
Morris was being held Oct. 8 in the Cook County Jail with bond set at $50,000. He is scheduled to appear Oct. 28 in the Bridgeview courthouse. The other teen is to appear in the Cook County Juvenile Court House in Chicago.
The first incident occurred about 6:30 p.m. Sept. 6 in a remote area near the 1300 block of west 47th St. in La Grange. In that incident the two offenders intimidated a young victim into turning over his money.
The second incident occurred on about 9 p.m. Sept. 27 near Burlington and Spring avenues in La Grange. In that incident the two offenders approached two teenagers, intimidating one into turning over his money and actually forcefully removed money and a cellphone from a second victim. The victims pursued the offenders after the robbery. One offender turned and tackled one of the victims and then got away. The victim was not injured.
A strong armed robbery also was reported at 8:38 p.m. Sept. 27 near Cossitt and Blackstone avenues in which a boy was intimidated into handing over valuables. No charges have been filed in that case.
Village officials issued a community alert Oct. 1 urging parents to speak with children about safety matters and for all residents to use caution while walking alone, especially at night.
