BURR RIDGE — A meeting between friends left one man with a gunshot wound and the other facing charges Aug. 20.
Burr Ridge police responded to the home of Mark H. Reinesto, 57, 7604 S. Drew, for a report of a gunshot wound at 11:36 p.m. There, they found a 56-year-old Willow Springs man with a bullet wound to the abdomen. He was taken to Adventist Hinsdale Hospital, where he was expected to undergo surgery.
Deputy Police Chief Marc Loftus said four squad cars responded to the home on Hamilton . On arrival, the injured man reportedly told police that he and Reinesto were looking at a loaded antique gun when the gun fell out of its holster and onto the floor. The gun went off, shooting the man in the stomach.
Reinesto, who was released from custody early Aug. 21, faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm without a Firearm Owner Identification (FOID) Card and unlawful possession of ammunition without a FOID card. Both are Class A misdemeanors, punishable by up to 12 month in jail and up to a $2,500 fine.
Loftus said police confiscated the antique gun, described as a 357-caliber revolver, as well as an unloaded shotgun.
