Two people wearing masks were seen trying to climb on the roof of Hinsdale Central High School Friday morning.
Iterim Principal Tom Paulsen sent a letter Friday to parents of students at the high school advising them that school employees saw two individuals on a fence around the Dumpsters by the loading dock on the ease side of the school at 10:45 a.m. Friday.
“The individuals were nearly on the roof when the vigilance of Frank Wright and Suzy Skowronski of our building and grounds department thwarted that attempt,” Paulsen wrote. “The pair jumped down and ran across Grant Street disappearing into the neighborhood directly to the east.”
The employees think the offenders, who wore cloth masks, were male.
“Video camera footage shows the two individuals entering the loading dock area from the east prior to the attempt to gain access to the roof,” Paulsen wrote.
School Resource Officer Mark Keller and other members of the Hinsdale Police Department spoke to neighbors to the east, but were not able to find or identify the individuals, he said.
“A thorough inspection of the roof did not reveal anything out of the ordinary,” Paulsen said.
Hinsdale Deputy Police Chief Mark Wodka said the security camera did not show either of the two carrying anything.
The Police Department had extra patrols around the school over the weekend and Monday.
Wodka and school officials are asking anyone who hears anything relevant to the incident to call the school or the police.
“If you hear any rumors or gossip, please contact us or the high school,” Wodka said.
The police non-emergency number is (630) 789-7070.
