Sheriff John Zaruba announced today the arrest of an International Fugitive who fled to Mexico after committing a Criminal Sexual Assault in 2000.
Pedro Cerritos Seriteno, 35, of Mexico committed a Criminal Sexual Assault which is a class 1 Felony in 2000. The subject was indicted and a warrant was issued in July of 2002. Seriteno remained at large until he was arrested on the warrant in April of 2008. The suspect bonded out of the DuPage County Jail on May 19, 2008, after posting 10 percent of his $100,000 bond and it was believed he fled to Mexico. Seriteno was tried in absentia in September of 2008 where he was found guilty of Criminal Sexual Assault and sentenced to 14 years in prison.
Sheriff’s detectives assigned to The United States Marshal Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force received information of the possible location of Seriteno. The investigation led the taskforce to a location in Mexico where he was taken into custody. Pedro Cerritos Seriteno was extradited back to United States and is currently in the DuPage County Jail.
