4. “Sweet Home Chicago: Chicago’s Candy History” will be presented by author Leslie Goddard at 1 p.m. May 17 at the Elmhurst Historical Museum, 120 E. Park Ave., Elmhurst. From Fannie May and Brach’s Candies to Tootsie Rolls, Frango Mints, Lemonheads and more, Chicago has a history of producing candy loved the world over. After the presentation, be among the first to browse the new exhibit on Chicago’s candy history in the museum galleries, which includes interactive displays with nostalgic photographs and artifacts, a video narrated by Bill Kurtis, and the Twisted Candy Challenge, a test of candy-wrapping skills.
