Ice cream sundaes. Pretzels and marshmallows dipped in chocolate. Cotton candy. Elmhurst Historical Museum knows how to throw a party.
It also has great entertainment planned for Sweet Home Spectacular, a free summer festival from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 24, on the museum’s grounds at 120 E. Park Ave.
“This is going to be a blast,” said Patrice Roche, marketing and communications specialist. Nationally acclaimed family entertainer Jim Gill of Oak Park will perform at 2 p.m. At 3:15 p.m. students from the School of Rock will entertain.
“They’ve already told us they’ll be playing ‘Sweet Home Chicago,’ ” Roche revealed.
There also will be games and face painting.
Inside, visitors can see the current exhibit, “Sweet Home Chicago,” about the city’s candy-making history.
“In the summer we try to do exhibits that are a little bit toward the lighter side to engage a broad audience and make it a pleaser for multiple generations,” Roche said.
