Who knew you could sleep at the zoo? That adventure awaits families at Sleepover Safari, 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28 to 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29 at Brookfield Zoo, 8400 31st St., Brookfield.
The event begins with a pizza dinner followed by exploration of the holiday activities at the park, said Jill Damato, manager of Nature Start programs.
Participants will learn how the zoo cares for its animals.
“Everybody will help create enrichment for some of our animals at the zoo,” Damato said.
They will most likely hide food and shredded paper in toilet paper rolls for the raccoons.
“At 9 p.m., we have an ice cream sundae bar,” Damato said. “Then we show a movie.”
The next morning, following a hot breakfast buffet, the group will take a hike, then head to the Children’s Zoo to give the enrichment items to the raccoons.
The cost is $70 per person, $60 for members. Nine Safari Sleepovers are planned for 2013.
