A big red bow will let you know that your family has found the hidden treasure at the 35th annual Hunt for the Yule Log, 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30 at the Morton Arboretum, 4100 Illinois Rte. 53, Lisle.
“First, we gather in Arbor Court and these wonderful entertainers, Frozen Robins, sing,” Special Events Coordinator Diana Fischer-Woods said. “Then every family receives a set of clues.”
These rhyming clues direct you to different locations. When you reach each destination, you have to have your clue sheet punched.
Once the Yule Log is found, Fischer-Woods said, “The finders put the Yule Log on a toboggan and they tow it back to the Arbor Court where there’s a bonfire started with part of last year’s log. One half goes on the fire and the other half is saved to start next year’s fire.”
Everyone enjoys wassail at this event which is free with arboretum admission.
