Emily Cleary,
Hinsdale
Senior studying news-editorial journalism
Resume: Former intern at Teen Vogue and StyleChicago.com.
Personal style: Colorful; changes from day to day.
Favorite hometown shops: Alixandra Collections and Blue, the District and Green Goddess in Hinsdale, and Vintage Charm in La Grange.
I draw inspiration from: Magazines and style blogs like Cheyenne Meets Chanel (cheyennemeetschanel.com), the Blonde Salad (theblondesalad.com) and Tuula (tuulavintage.blogspot.com).
“Project Runway” or “America’s Top Model”? I must admit: “Top Model.” How a shoot comes to life is fascinating!
Fashion icons: Kate Bosworth and Jessica Alba. Also Blake Lively, who doesn’t have a stylist but dresses so well, which means she has an innate sense of style.
Trend that needs to end: Parachute pants.
Currently obsessed with: Anything neon, platform heels.
What makes College Fashion Week fab: It gives our campus great exposure to fashion, something that Champaign typically lacks. It’s also a great networking outlet because, despite our remote location, many students land impressive internships in Chicago and New York.
My post-grad plans include: Possibly traveling before settling into a work routine that allows me to use my creative juices but I’m not set on one path. I wish I could have five careers at once!
