Zoo gala

The Women’s Board of the Chicago Zoological Society will present their annual Wine & Dine in the Wild gala on Sept. 28, from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. at Brookfield Zoo’s outdoor Pavilions. Joffrey Couture

Aspire Fashion Show

Home Tour

The 61st annual Home Tour sponsored by the American Association of University Women will take place from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sept. 30 and feature five homes in Hinsdale. A reception will take place from 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at The Community House, 8th and Madison, Hinsdale; and an after-tour party will take place from 4-7 p.m. at Normandy Remodeling, 440 E. Barkapalooza

The 19th annual Barkapalooza, a fundraiser benefiting the West Suburban Humane Society, will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Lisle Community Park at 1825 Short Street in Lisle. Adult registration fee prior to Sept. 21 is $10, $15 after. Children 12 and under are free. Walkers with $100 or more in collected pledges will have their registration fee waived. Activities include the dog walkathon, a clown, face painting, balloon sculpture, games, an agility demonstration and the Dog Scouts of America Doggy Olympics. Fall fashion event

Pioneer Press will present Fall Trend Fashion Event on Oct. 11 at Pinstripes of Northbrook, 1150 Willow Rd., Northbrook. Haunted houses

Fear City Chicago Apocalypse and Hades Haunted House, both located at 8240 N. Austin Ave. in Morton Grove, will hold an event Oct. 11 to benefit the Greater Illinois Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Both houses will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from the door beyond the first 600 people to enter. Three percent of ticket sales from both houses will be donated to the society for the duration of their run. Fear City and Hades will be open each weekend in October beginning Oct. 5. The Naperville Area Humane Society will host its annual Black Cat Ball gala, on Oct. at Arrowhead Golf Club, 26W151 Butterfield Rd., Wheaton. The black tie optional event will begin with cocktails at 6 p.m., followed by dinner, program, live and silent auction and dancing. Tickets are $150 per person; tables of ten are $1400. Family Shelter Service Walk

Family Shelter Service will hold a 10K/5K Run Walk, Run for her Life… Be a Hero for Hope, on Oct. 21 at Downers North High School, 4436 Main St., Downers Grove beginning at 8:30 a.m. Cost for adults: $30 for 10K double loop run, $25 for 5K run/walk. Cost for children: $12 for 1-mile competitive run and for Kids’ Fun Run for ages 8 and under. Kids are encouraged to dress as their favorite superhero. The first 50 kids receive a vintage superhero action figure. All money raised by team fundraising will be matched dollar for dollar by an anonymous donor. Thriller! Festival 2012

Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital will host an annual benefit, Thriller! Festival 2012: A Bash with Panache, at the Burr Ridge Marriott on Oct. 27. The bash will begin at 6 p.m. with dinner, cocktails, gaming and dancing to the sounds of the Gold Coast Orchestra. Proceeds benefit cardiac services and the President’s Fund for Special Needs, Innovation, Education and Patient Care at Good Samaritan Hospital. Costumes are encouraged. Tickets are $250 per person. Boy Scout Hoe Down

The Boy Scouts of America, Des Plaines Valley Council, La Grange will host its first annual Hoe Down fundraiser on Nov. 3 from 6-10 p.m. at The Barn at Arabian Knights Farm, 6526 Clarendon Hills Rd., Willowbrook.
