Five local athletes will be participating in the London Olympic games coming up Saturday through Aug. 12 in London. Use this guide to figure out when you can watch them to compete. All events are listed in Chicago times.
Conor Dwyer, a swimmer from Winnetka, can be seen competing at these events:
On Saturday, at 6:52 a.m., for the 400 meter freestyle heats, and at 1:49 p.m. for the final. On Tuesday, catch him at 5:02 a.m. in 4x200 meter freestyle relay heats and later at 2:47 p.m. for the final.
Matt Grevers, from Lake Forest will swim three events at the Olympics:
On Sunday, at 5 a.m. for 100 backstroke heats, and at 5:53 a.m. for 4x100 freestyle relay heats. Later that day, at 2:25 p.m., the 100 backstroke semifinals begin, followed at 2:54 p.m. the 4x100 freestyle relay final. Monday, at 1:56 p.m., brings the 100 backstroke final. On Aug. 3, Grevers can be seen at 5:49 a.m. for the 4x100 medley relay heats, with the on Aug. 4 at 2:27 p.m.
Christina Loukas, a diver from Deerfield, will take the board beginning Aug. 3:
The 3-meter springboard preliminary round takes place at 8:30 a.m. On Aug. 4, at 8:30 a.m., will be the semifinal, with the final at 1 p.m. Aug. 5.
Ellis Coleman, of Oak Park, will be competing in 60 kg Greco-Roman wrestling.
Qualifications start at 7 a.m Aug. 6 , while the championship bracket begins at 7:30 a.m. At 8:30 a.m., watch the quarterfinals, and at 9 a.m. are the semifinals. The bronze medal match is 11:45 a.m., followed by the match for the gold.
Andrew Pink, of Evanston, competes for the Great Britain men’s volleyball team.
The home team has pool-play matches at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, vs. Bulgaria; 2 p.m. Tuesday, vs. Australia; 4 p.m. Aug. 2, vs. Italy; 5:30 a.m. Aug. 4, vs. Poland; and at 4:45 p.m. vs. Argentina.
