A Minnesota man faces multiple Class X felony charges after an arrest June 12 outside a Burr Ridge hotel.

Paul Darrah, spokesman for the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, said Luis Martines-Corona, 34, of 1474 Freemont Ave., St. Paul, Minn., allegedly was found in possession of about 5 pounds of methamphetamine.

The arrest followed an investigation by District 2 Illinois State Police, who did not return calls seeking information about the arrest.

Martines-Corona is being held in DuPage County Jail on $1 million bail. Darrah said half that amount is for the recent drug arrest and half is for a warrant out of Minnesota. Martines-Corona allegedly fled that state to avoid prosecution on previous drug charges.

Martines-Corona faces up to 60 years in prison for alleged possession of more than 900 grams of methamphetamine and for delivery or intent to deliver the drug.

He will be arraigned before Judge George Bakalis on July 9.
