BURR RIDGE — Just nine years ago, Jacob Kassuba of Darien taught his first class as an instructor at Everest College. Today, he’s the president.

“This was always the goal,” said Kassuba, who was promoted from his role as director of education this month. As president, he will oversee all administrative departments, including admissions, student affairs, educational programs, and community and business relations.

Kassuba believes his former job as an instructor will help him as a leader.

“It gives a unique perspective,” he said.

A native of Michigan, Kassuba earned a bachelor’s degree in health science from Grand Valley State University before going on to earn his master’s in business administration from Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids.

Now, his job is to help other students meet their educational and employment goals.

“That’s what it is all about,” he said.

Terri Hines, regional vice president of operations for Everest College and former president of the Burr Ridge campus, said Kassuba is the right man to replace Julia Landrum, who has taken a new position with Everest in Texas.

“Jake has demonstrated exceptional leadership and has a proven track record of ensuring that students receive a quality educational experience throughout his career at Everest,” Hines said. “The Burr Ridge campus, with the goal of training and successfully assisting in the placement of students in their chosen occupations, will excel under his direction.”

Located at 6880 N. Frontage Road, Everest’s Burr Ridge campus offers instruction in a number of allied health specialties.
