BURR RIDGE — The experts at Image FX in Burr Ridge just added another major project to their already busy schedule. They need to make signs for their own new home.

After 11 years at 16W109 83rd St., the sign design company owned by Robbie Pyle and Matt Gleitsman will move up the road to a larger space in Bolingbrook.

“We’re a little cramped here,” said Gleitsman, a resident of Chicago and a 2002 graduate of Hinsdale Central High School. “It will give us a lot more room.”

It was in Burr Ridge that Image FX was raised, but it was born back in 1982, when Pyle was in high school. Using paints and a brush, he started creating signs back in his Ohio hometown. Today, the company makes all sorts of signs, from electronic message boards to vehicle graphics, vinyl banners to trade show displays, for many companies.

“We do all kinds of stuff,” said Gleitsman, who became a partner in the business in 2006.

The company designs, manufactures and installs its products.

“That’s what we really pride ourselves on,” he said.

The sign on the Horton’s Lighting store in La Grange was made by the crew at ImageFX, as were the signs at Fuller’s car washes and at the Citgo station on Route 83 in Willowbrook.

The company has found something of a niche in the rebranding and reimaging of gas stations. The unbranded station at 55th Street and Willow Springs Road became a Shell, thanks in part to the work of ImageFX.

With a degree in graphic design, Gleitsman can help companies by designing a logo, or ImageFX can incorporate an established logo into a new or existing branding campaign.

Most of the company’s work takes place in Illinois, but it will install anywhere in the country.

The variety of work and the constant challenge to create something special for clients keeps things interesting for Gleitsman, Pyle and the company’s 10 employees.

“I like that it’s different every day,” Gleitsman said.
