District 180 close to contract in Burr Ridge

BURR RIDGE — After well over a year of negotiations, District 180 school officials and teachers say they are close to a new teachers’ contract.

“We’re working out the details,” said Lynn Moynihan, Burr Ridge Elementary District 180 social worker and president of the teachers’ bargaining unit, the Teachers Organization of Palisades.

The 58 members of the Teachers Organization of Palisades, which include teachers at Anne M. Jeans and Burr Ridge Middle schools, have been without a contract since Sept. 1, 2011. Teachers filed a notice of intent to strike in March but have remained on the job despite their lack of a contract.

“I think we’re close,” Superintendent Tom Schneider said. “We’re just working out the language.”
