HINSDALE

Police are asking residents to check their personal belongings and silverware after they found items early Friday morning believed to have been stolen.

Police officers stopped a person on foot about 3:45 a.m. near the 5700 block of South Elm Street in Hinsdale, and found the person had silverware and jewelry that may have been stolen from a home or homes in the area.

The Burr Ridge Police Department was notified about the possible stolen goods because 57th and Elm is near the Hinsdale-Burr Ridge border.

Burr Ridge Police Sgt. Marc Loftus said no burglaries on Thursday or Friday had been reported in his town.

Nobody has been charged with a crime, as the investigation is still ongoing. The police are trying to find out from where the items may have been taken.

Anyone who notices anything missing from their home, particularly silverware or jewelry, should contact the Hinsdale Police Department at (630) 789-7070.~.
