Compass annexation proceeds in Burr Ridge

BURR RIDGE — Burr Ridge village trustees unanimously approved a set of plan commission recommendations Monday and directed staff to prepare an annexation agreement for the Compass truck property on North Frontage Road.

Village Administrator Steve Stricker said the annexation should be on the Village Board’s Nov. 12 agenda.

“The residents are happy,” Stricker said.

As part of the pending agreement, Compass management has agreed to cease operation of its truck driving school no later than March 1. Evening driving activities will stop as of Nov. 1.

The agreement is expected to include landscaping requirements and construction of a 16-foot wall on the property’s north side, identical to the wall installed by the adjoining Saia property.

Weather permitting, the wall could be built yet this year.

The village had begun efforts to force annex the currently unincorporated property on North Frontage Road after neighbors complained that Compass Truck Sales, 15W580 N. Frontage Road, was operating a trucking school on the property. Neighbors said student drivers produce dust and noise that weren’t a problem before the school opened several months ago.

Compass owner Roy Dobrasinovic chose to seek an annexation agreement instead.

“They resolved all the issues,” Stricker said.
