La Grange Hospital labor rooms get facelift

LA GRANGE — Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital is finishing up a facelift of the hospital’s labor and delivery rooms to help expectant mothers and their families feel a little more at home during their stay.
“We work hard to try to provide the most comfortable environment we can for our patients,” Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital Chief Executive Officer Lary Davis said. “We hope that our renovated labor and delivery rooms do just that for our expectant mothers and their families.”
With fresh paint, bathroom fixtures and tile, and new wood laminate flooring, the rooms are designed to establish a cozier atmosphere. The renewed setting is designed to lower stress in expectant mothers as they proceed through the different stages of labor.
New furnishings, including recliner sleepers, will offer some physical comfort for family members waiting with expectant mothers.
The rework is the first for the unit since 2000, hospital clinical manager Denise Santucci said.
A prominent feature of the freshened rooms is a large LED light picture hanging on the walls, displaying a nature scene. When the new patient care center at Adventist La Grange Memorial was built, many of the windows in labor and delivery were blocked, Santucci said.
“To make the rooms look airy and fresh and really nice, they bought the LED pictures, which are just amazing,” Santucci said. “All the patients love the LED photos.
“They actually cheer up the nurses, too.”
