Local merchants and consumers came together Wednesday for the 15th annual Willowbrook/Burr Ridge Business Expo at Ashton Place.
Businesses ranging from restaurants to dental offices set up temporary shop in the banquet facility’s ballroom to introduce themselves to would-be customers. Guests picked up giveaways as well as information as they perused the expo’s 30-some exhibits.
The new owners of LaCabanita Mexican Restaurant, in County Line Square in Burr Ridge, served up samples of their quesadillas and desserts, while representatives of Illinois’ I-Cash program helped visitors find lost money. By 2 p.m., six expo guests already had found unclaimed cash through the free state program.
This year’s featured speaker, Fox News meteorologist Tammie Souza, shared information about how social media is used to inform the public about severe weather.
“She draws a crowd,” said expo organizer Lisa Shemroske.
