BURR RIDGE — The Burr Ridge Village Board took the next step Monday toward sprucing up Village Hall.

In a 6-0 vote, trustees agreed to pay Burr Ridge resident Josephine Goetz, owner of Interior Environments Inc., no more than $16,000 to draw up plans and collect bids for the next phase of the Village Hall project.

Goetz oversaw the remodeling of the board and conference rooms last year and brought both jobs in on budget, Village Administrator Steve Stricker said.

Along with replacement of the roof, the next phase includes updates to the building’s office and public spaces, including the public restrooms.

“This is not remodeling,” said trustee and Space Needs Committee member Robert Grela. “This is restoration and repair.”

Grela said some of the building’s cabinets, doors and rugs are 25 years old. The laminate countertops are chipped and some of the carpets are threadbare.

Early estimated put the cost of the roof replacement at $100,000 and the interior work at $125,000.

The work, if approved by the Village Board, will be paid for through forfeited building bonds. The $500,000 fund also was used to pay for the board room renovation.
