DARIEN — Pizzas, purses and pillows were among the many items for sale at Hinsdale South High School Saturday.
The school’s Post Prom Committee welcomed about 45 vendors, crafters and artists to the school cafeteria to raise money for this year’s post-prom cruise.
“We raise money to cover half the cost,” said committee co-chair and event organizer Natalie Balzano. The committee is made up of parents dedicated to providing a safe after-prom activity for students.
“It’s a good cause because it’s fun for the kids. And it keeps them safe,” Balzano said.
The craft sale, a first for the committee, raised about $1,400 toward the April 20 cruise on Lake Michigan. Balzano said she hopes to hold a fall sale toward next year’s event.
Another chance to help the Post Prom fund comes April 9, when Pei Wei in Willowbrook will donate a portion of sales to the cause.
