There’s a new face on the Burr Ridge Elementary School District 180 Board, and it might strike some as familiar.
The board voted Dec. 16 to appoint former member Helen Bell to fill a vacancy created last month by the resignation of board member Stanley Niew.
Niew, who resigned Nov. 18 due to a change in residency, was elected in April to a two-year term.
Bell, a longtime resident of the school district, served on the board from 2005-2009.
Superintendent Tom Schneider said Bell has a clear understanding of the demands and expectations involved with being a board member. He said she has a constructive attitude and a willingness to work toward the district’s goals.
