Community House rings in the holidays

The Community House in Hinsdale transformed its gymnasium into an unrecognizable setting for the Holiday Ball on Dec. 7.

The 470 guests were transported back in time to the glitz and glamour of the 1950s inspired by Bing Crosby’s “White Christmas.” The Hinsdale Central Madrigals set the festive tone early by regaling guests with their angelic voices as they entered the event.

The event reflected a silver and gold theme with frosted white trees and lit Lucite bars interspersed with black and white holiday film classics from the 1950s.

Co-chairmen of this year’s event were Ashley and Dave Killpack, Mary and Tim Lyne, and Jill and Mike Naimo. Wine Auction co-chairmen included Community House Trustee Mike Ascher, and Friends of The Community House Mike Devine, Bob O’Hare, Fred Paulman and Jim Vanek.

Community House Executive Director Jeni Fabian greeted the guests and announced that former Trustees Dick Johnson, WMAQ-Channel 5 news anchor, and Norm Chimenti, both of Hinsdale, were joining the ranks of the organization’s Life Trustee Board in honor of their years of service to The Community House.

Members of The Community House’s Junior Board presented an inspirational video entitled “A Day in the Life at The Community House.” The video was directed and produced entirely by members of the Junior Board, which is comprised of local high school students.

The evening’s program was capped off with the traditional singing of “White Christmas”, led by Life Trustee Jay Tuthill and The Community House Players. Guests then hit the dance floor to the tunes of DJ Megan Taylor.
