HINSDALE — The Sleep Disorders Center at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital recently earned program re-accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, while Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital earned accreditation from the academy. The academy is the largest professional medical society for clinicians, researchers and other health-care providers in the field of sleep medicine and is considered to be the gold standard.
To receive accreditation, the center underwent a detailed inspection of both the facility and staff, including an evaluation of testing procedures, patient contacts and physician training, to ensure it meets or exceeds all academy standards. The organization evaluated the center’s goals to ensure they were clearly stated and included plans for positively affecting the quality of medical care.
The Sleep Disorders Centers treats adult patients for all known sleep disorders, including snoring and sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome and periodic limb movements. Patients should talk to their primary care physician if they think they might be suffering from a sleep disorder.
