An 18-year-old from Burr Ridge is charged with aggravated battery, armed robbery and attempted armed robbery in connection with alleged attacks May 13 on two men in Villa Park.

Nicholas Sanchez, 7248 Giddings, Burr Ridge, and Jeremy Rush, 20, of Addison, are each held on $350,000 bail for their alleged roles in the attacks. The DuPage County State’s Attorney announced the charges Wednesday.

According to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s office, Rush and Sanchez were driving in a vehicle near Ardmore and Division when they approached the first victim as he walked home after finishing work. The pair allegedly exited the vehicle and attacked the man, hitting him repeatedly about his head with a baseball bat.

Before fleeing the scene, Rush and Sanchez allegedly went through their victim’s pockets looking for money, but found none.

Several hours later, between 3:30 and 4 a.m., Rush and Sanchez allegedly approached another man walking on the street in Villa Park on Cornell Avenue and attacked him, as well. After beating the second victim, Rush and Sanchez allegedly went through the man’s pockets and stole $140.

Shortly after the second attack, Rush and Sanchez were apprehended by Villa Park police.

Rush and Sanchez each face two counts of aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony; one count of armed robbery, a Class X felony; and one count of attempted armed robbery, a Class 1 felony. Their next court appearance is scheduled for June 4 in front of Judge Robert Kleeman.

Both remained in DuPage County Jail on Wednesday.
