Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Motown legend Smokey Robinson joined some 2,000 guests Dec. 14 for the 34th Annual Chance of a Lifetime Gala at the McCormick Place’s Lakeside Center, hosted by the Illinois Chapter of JDRF (formerly, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). The lavish evening event — one of the city’s largest fundraisers — raised $3.7 million for JDRF’s efforts to find a cure for type 1 diabetes.
