Elm School students bring historical figures to life

Elm School third-graders brought historical figures to life recently through the annual Living Wax Museum project.
Students spent time reading the biographies of famous artists, musicians, scientists, and inventors as written by author Mike Venezia. After learning the stories of the noteworthy individuals, each student created a Time magazine article and cover as if their chosen character had been named Person of the Year. As the culminating activity to the unit, students dressed as the person for the Living Wax Museum, posing statue-like until another student or adult pressed a circular sticker on their hand, allowing them to come to life.
During the event, students shared talking points that highlighted key accomplishments of their important figure. The famous figures who were represented ranged from Albert Einstein and Grandma Moses to Salvador Dali and The Beatles.~.
