HINSDALE — Hinsdale-Clarendon Hills Elementary District 181 is instituting some new initiatives in an effort to improve communication and transparency in the community.
“I think we’ve done a nice job, but we were brainstorming for ways to do even more,” Superintendent Renee Schuster said. “It’s really all about continuous improvement, and we always want to try to find ways to reach out to the community.”
Schuster will be very personally involved in some of the new initiatives, including a series of Lunch and Learn Sessions, a blog she will post, and postings on Twitter.
“If people here something and have questions about it, this gives them the opportunity to get more connected,” Schuster said. “This is a great community, and I want to do things to help improve my connection with the people.”
The Lunch and Learn Sessions are one-hour events that will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Sept. 26, Nov. 14, Jan. 23, March 6, and May 8 in various locations within the District 181 boundaries.
At each session, Schuster will provide a brief update on district news and leave the remaining time for an open question-and-answer period.
The focus of Schuster’s blog will be the sharing of news and information; however, a comment section will allow for a two-way online conversation.
Along with Schuster’s personal direct involvement in some of the new communication/transparency initiatives, District 181 has scheduled community engagement sessions for Nov. 12-13 and is planning a parent satisfaction survey and a redesigned website. An exit survey will be added for those who attend the community engagement sessions.
