An evening of entertainment by Hinsdale Central students and alumni was presented Saturday at The Community House to raise money for the school’s music, theater and art departments.

Central Casting showcased songs and scenes from Broadway productions.

The party was both a tribute and fundraiser designed to showcase the depth and range of performers who have passed through Hinsdale Central High School’s arts programs, and honor Christine Hicks, a English teacher and Drama Club coach who will retire in May.

The party cost $100 for adults and included a reception with food from Il Piggiolo, Nabuki and Cine. The student tickets were $50 each and include a pizza party, popcorn and other treats.

Proceeds from Central Casting will go for auditorium signage, new technology and upgrades for the theater, musical instrument and uniform storage for the music program, and new mobile furniture for the art classrooms. Between ticket sales, raffles, a silent auction at the event and donations, they expect to raise about $40,000, said Maria Pierce, one of the co-directors. Pierce said they had about 240 people attend.

Online donations can be made online through the end of 2013 at www.theboosters.com.
