The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County invites outdoor adventurers to experience activities of the season during the Wonders of Winter open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 1 at Mayslake Peabody Estate at 1717 W. 31st St. in Oak Brook.

Visitors at this free, all-ages event can hop on a hayride, try high-tech treasure-hunting fun with geocaching and meet live birds of prey from Willowbrook Wildlife Center’s raptor-education program. If ice and snow conditions are right, they can learn how to reel in a lunker through the ice and hit the trails on a pair of snowshoes. Everyone can warm up around an open fire while making s’mores and then step inside Mayslake Hall for games, crafts and exploration of the historic building.

Registration is not required. For more information on the Wonders of Winter, call 630-933-7248.
