BURR RIDGE — James White of Burr Ridge was recently presented with his Twin Galaxies Video Game Trading Card (No. 281) in a red-carpet ceremony at the Fairfield Iowa Arts and Convention Center. The ceremony honored talented players from all over the U.S. and was hosted by Walter Day of Twin Galaxies, known as the industry’s score keeper, and Billy Mitchell, Video Game Player of the last century.
The award commemorates White’s 2012 Gamer of the Year achievement at the Galloping Ghost Arcade and his impact on the global video game culture. The biography on White’s trading card relates that White’s almost photographic memory, compensation for his learning disabilities, allows him to master in a very short time the intricacies of games with distinct patterns.
White has achieved most of his world records scores, currently numbering 14, at the Galloping Ghost Arcade in Brookfield, which features more than 400 games, and is awaiting confirmation that it is the largest classic arcade center in the world. Many of the global video game superstars who were also honored in Iowa, when in Chicago, visit the arcade in hopes of setting new world record scores.
