Golfers lined up for the chance to play a great game of golf for a great cause.
The La Grange Memorial Hospital Foundation Golf Classic attracted around 200 golfers on Aug. 12.
“This year was one of the biggest turnouts we’ve ever had for a Golf Classic,” said Dr. Luke Sewall, who served as co-chairman of the event alongside fellow community member Jeff Kraus. “We had a pleasantly overwhelming response.”
There were also new sponsorship opportunities available at this year’s event as well as electronic bidding for the annual silent auction.
The event raised more than $240,000 in gifts and donations, and proceeds will be directed to the Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital Patient Care Center Fund. A matching grant will also come from Community Memorial Foundation.
“Thanks to outstanding support from our sponsors, our staff and our doctors, we’re able to continue to help the hospital make a difference in the lives of its patients and their families,” Skeen said.
People from all over the area turn out to help with the Golf Classic, Sewall added, and it’s because of their work that the event is successful.
“It’s our own community supporting our community hospital, which is great,” he said.
