Wellness House raised the bar at its annual gala, Celebrate Our Future, boasting a performance by Tony and Grammy award winner Heather Headley while celebrating downtown at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago.

The Oct. 1 event hosted more than 300 guests who were clad in black ties to support Wellness House, a not-for-profit Hinsdale organization that provides support for individuals and their families living with a cancer diagnosis.

The rare wine silent auction continued to be a popular activity with hand-picked bottles of wine from private collections, all donated by attendees. The performance by Headley generated rounds of standing ovations as did a duet performed with Hinsdale resident Lainie Pahos, the daughter of Lauren Pahos, a longtime Wellness House volunteer and then patient who lost her battle with cancer earlier this year.

Headley is a Northwestern University alum who performed the role of Nala in the original Broadway cast of the Tony-winning musical “The Lion King.” She also performed in “Aida” and won the Tony Award for best actress for her role as the Nubian princess, Aida. Her husband, Brian Musso, was a Wellness House board member for several years.

Other gala events included a wildly successful paddle raise and dancing to the music of Fig Media.

The event raised more than $450,000 for Wellness House and was co-chaired by Hinsdale residents Patricia and Richard Bruder, Marni and Frederick Paulman, and Amy and Gordon Walker Jr.
